About LOTE Teaching Guide Volume 3
LOTE Guide 3 is for use in either grades 5-6 OR 9-10, with a teaching model based more strongly on theory and complex communication.
This is the 2026 UPGRADED edition in line with National Curriculum outcomes
I have re-written the Part 1 (aka year 1) edition of Volume 3, and completed Year 2 of this volume in line with the National Auslan (Language) curriculum V9.0. This was a massive undertaking which saw me re-write the already published first half as well.

Prerequisite
If possible use the Volume 2 guide as a prerequisite prior to purchasing volume 3. Volume 3 is a big step up and new Auslan programs in a primary school, for example, should try and start students on Volume 2 first.
High School and First language learners vs Primary application
Throughout the teaching notes you will find extended expectations and teaching notes for high school and advanced learners. In this way one years program can adapt to either grade 5 or Year 9; Grade 6 or Year 10, and by following the program you will tick off all curriculum outcomes for the relevant year.
In addition you have activities and extended vocab learning opportunities embedded into every topic; predominantly through independent study for your advanced students.
How is language teaching approached
The book is divided into two halves. Year 1 and Year 2
Within you will find a term by term program with enough time flexibility to accommodate slower or faster progress based on the make up of the class and their prior knowledge.
You teaching guide has all the information and notes you need to teach your class. The theory, and practical activities, assignments and exercises to reinforce learning.

Video files are an integral part of this teaching guide, from stories, to example videos, as well as deaf community stories and narratives around the teaching themes
