About SignPlanet in a nut shell

 For those of you new to SignPlanet it is an interactive Auslan dictionary that provides subscribers the ability to create resources using either your own vocab list or one of our categories.

 In 2024 we updated the LEARN functions also, so you can now learn online via our video and line art bank through ready made courses and also customise your own learning.

 LOTE teaching guide areas include ready to print resources as well as vocab grouping per lesson areas ready for you to make your own resources !

Organisation VS Single User License

An organisation has administrators, managers, and profiles. Profiles are organised under managers groups. So in a school setting profiles are students (who do not need an email and for whom teachers can manage logins etc). Teachers are assigned as managers, with groups they manage, which could be class 2 green, for example.

 

What you will find online

The Curriculum Material section on SignPlanet.net is divided according to each of the printed guides, with subsections for each chapter/learning area.
This includes teaching content for all three volumes.

Constantly evolving digital content
The idea with the digital content is that we can constantly update and grow the content over time, so expect updates over time.

We have a large body of video stories and teaching kits that until now have exclusively been available via DVD or printed books. Over the coming years all this material will digitise and become available on SignPlanet and weave its way into the curriculum learning areas

Types of online content

Online Play
This  content is mostly comprised of assessment and game play that helps revise vocab. This includes Memory Games, Text to Sign, and Sign Select games.
 
Print & Play
A collection of printable pdf’s for your students. It includes worksheets, song sheets and games like bingo (game cards call sheets and so on).
 
Watch and Learn
A collection of database driven video material that can automatically adjust based on updates to vocab lists and video content on the site. So please be aware you may find general topics like “farm animals” may have more signs in it than your printed guide contain.
 
Song Time
A time of print these were mostly PDF sheets however we are adding  video songs to the database. DVD’s that once formed part of Lote 1 & 2 are moving online also.
 
Story Time
We have started building the video bank in two groups. Our videos, which will be added to the SignPlanet database; and YouTube videos curated by us.  Many will also have related teaching notes for you.
 
Make Your Own
As per previous pages you can use vocab categories online to make your own pages. For most sections we made a sample selection of 2 to 4 page hand outs generated using these tools; however if you want a class set of unique pages you can generate these yourself on the fly and either print or save as a pdf.

 

 We Curate It So You Don’t Have To!

With so much material online, from outright inaccurate, labelled as Auslan when it is ASL or BSL, to amazing teaching resources. We are taking the time to curate a large body of online material and database it by content and teaching lessons. Plus writing up teaching materials based on some of the best material.

Sign Search Now includes state usage map and quick link to video on main search page. Sign MORE INFO pages include a lists other countries that use the sign, past dictionaries that included sign, plus the same performance descriptions, hints and context notes we are known for.

Story time teaching kits Within the curriculum area and als printables you will find ,ore and more video stories with teaching guides that focus on the linguistic and vocabulary teaching opportunities throughout the story

 

Customised Resource Creation We now have custom sheets that let you drag and drop signs where you want them for your own creations like book translations. You can also make customised Dictionaries, Worksheets and more! Every worksheet generation online will be unique, so you can make a large number of worksheets that are unique (one for all the class) Curriculum areas of signplanet (inder organisation license area) includes many pre-made for you ready to click and print.

Online Learning Some free online mini courses are already launched that are perfect for beginners. These include dynamically generated content so every play through is uniquely challenging. Under the Organisation License Curriculum areas however there are also "Watch and Learn" playthroughs, stories and interactive learning modules.  We are developing a range of interactive learning modules for every topic within the LOTE guides that will help with home learners /absent students, and which can be used as in class interactive learning modules
